DETIERRA

PARRAS, COAHUILA, MEXICO

2020 - CURRENT

A collection of ten rammed-earth dwellings set at the foot of the Sierra Madre in Parras, Coahuila — one of Mexico’s fastest-growing wine regions. Built in 2020, the project grew from a personal need for grounding during COVID: a place to be in nature, live inside it, and still feel the quiet comfort of a modern room.

Each structure is formed from the land itself. The walls are rammed earth, crafted from the soil excavated for the foundations, allowing the architecture to settle back into the terrain with a sense of permanence and calm. Water is sourced from the property’s irrigation pool, filtered, and delivered to each dwelling in a simple, closed-loop system.

This project is an exercise in restraint — architecture reduced to essentials, where material honesty, landscape, and stillness guide the experience. It is not a retreat from the world, but a return to it.
